Jane Doe Hipsta: U-N-I-T-Y
Jane Doe Hipsta was born and raised in the 7th Ward area of New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from Mc Donogh 35 Senior High School in New Orleans, LA. She also attended Dillard University in New Orleans, LA and received her BA in Psychology and Mass Communications (Music Business Concentration). She also attended Full Sail University and recieved her Masters Degree in Entertainment Business & Film Science. She began writing at the tender age of 6. She had her first mystery book published at the age of 9 by her 4th grade teacher. Throughout her childhood she took part in all aspects of the arts. Her mother put her in dance, music, art and drama classes.She currently has a book out now with fellow author & poet John Lacarbiere III “Word Connections” Part II which includes herself, Mr. Lacarbiere & several other writers from around the world. The book is avaliable for purchase on Amazon & Barnes & Noble.
Jane Doe has also appeared in several local New Orleans artist videos such as Dappa, K. Gates, Roe M, King Yoasii aka Kaos, and Tony Wilson. She has also appeared in Treme season 4, the movie “Walk of Fame” Starring Scott Eastwood, Jamie Kennedy, Cory Hardict & Malcom Mc Dowell, TV series Queen Sugar & NCIS New Orleans.
In 2012 she met spoken word/hip-hip artist/poet/author Tony Wilson while working at a local coffee shop/event venue. They began writing poetry & music together & Mr. Wilson asked her to join his hip-hop group & entertainment company Team Vision. She joined & released several short videos & films with the group. She performed & traveled with them heavily in 2014. The group released their 1st mixtape entitled “8 Faces” which was released via dat piff. The group released 3 singles & videos “Take that From me”, “H.A.T.E.R.S.”, and “Pac Heat”. The group received lots of attention on the internet, social media & the local music scene. But the group decided to part ways & continue with their own solo careers.
She often calls herself a “Hipsta” which simply describes her persona & style. Rich Hipster is a brand & record label started by RnB/Jazz singer Chrisette Michele which Chrisette heavily involves her fans which she calls “Rich Hipster Nation” to get involved with her movement. Jane Doe has connected with Chrisette via Instagram & formed a bond with her about Rich Hipster. Jane was mentored for an entire year by Chrisette on entrepreneurship, artist & brand development. She attributes much of her success as an independent artist to Chrisette’s mentorship.
Jane has released several Spoken Word and Hip-Hop singles & two Spoken Word projects “Pretty Hipsta: A Spoken Word Experience I & II. All of her music & poetry can be found on all major streaming platforms.
